BIOGRAPHY MAYA/CHANDINI

This duo of dancers and choreographers, specialized in Indian dances has been performing since 2007. Both of them having been initiated in India by their respective masters during numerous trips, they have gained a good knowledge of Indian culture and the desire to make it accessible to the Western public.
Having spent years producing traditional dances shows, they now favor fusion which allows them to create their own style.
Fire dance, ethnic fusion, Indian fusion, Tzigane fusion and vintage cabaret are the new colors of the duo.
They have collaborated with different artists to offer very varied shows: DJ nights with GypsySoundSystem, shows for children with Amrat Hussain Gypsy Trio, pyrotechnic shows with the « Cercle de Feu » company, concerts of electro-Indo-Afghan music with Sher ki Awaaz, shows of Tzigane dances with Pat la Gadji.
Their varied styles allow them to offer a wide range of shows to the event organizers with whom they have been working with since the start of their career.
The duo likes to meet all kinds of audiences, whether at a World music festival, temple, disco, palace, squat, theater, hospital, cabaret or a school.
They have performed in different festivals such as the « Paléo Festival » in Nyon, the « Sziget » of Budapest, the « Nuits du Monde » of the Ethnomusicology Workshops in Geneva, « Les rencontres de Brel » as a support act of Emir Kusturica’s show in Saint-Pierre-en-Chartreuse, « Poussière du monde » in Geneva, « Trotinette » in Aigle, « Tissé-Métissé » in Nantes and more…
The MayaChandini duo is part of the artists referenced by the Ethnomusicology Workshops of Geneva.
