Maya offers courses of Kalbelia and Roman dance at the Ethnomusicology Workshops in Geneva and classical Bollywood and Hip-Hop at the Martinelly school in Nyon.
Kalbelia and Roman dance courses for adults:
These dances are different but agree about the expression particular of the so-called Gypsy dances and the dancer’s attitude. They are both intimately connected to the rhythm of percussion. The Roman dance is 9 beat based and the Kalbelia dance is 4 beat based.
In this course, we work on the traditional basic steps and we are also developing the improvisation connected to the expression that the dancer unfolds in front of his/her public. This course is listed by the Ethnomusicology Workshops of Geneva. www.adem.ch
Classical Bollywood courses for adults:
In India, movie actors were traditionally singers and dancers. This Bollywood course is true to the original Indian movies. Blending a classical and folk repertoire with other dances and adding the actor’s performance typical of the Bollywood movies, the dancer expresses through mime the stories and emotions inherent to Indian dance. www.danse-martinelli.ch
